Are you treating your skin as well as you think?
Falling into a bad habit isn’t always noticeable. Sometimes, it can just be the result of receiving some bad information somewhere along the way. We understand – it’s happened to all of us at some point or another in our lives. Based on some of the top skin care routine mistakes we’ve encountered at Artistry, we’ve put together this 4-question quiz to help you identify and optimize your skin care routine!
In which order are you supposed to use and apply your skin care system?
Cleanser, Toner, Treatment Products, Moisturizer.
It’s a common misconception that you should apply your treatment products last. It’s important that they are applied prior to the moisturizer, as the moisturizer will act as a seal to keep the treatment product where it is needed.
Which finger should you be using to apply your eye cream?
Your ring finger.
I know it’s easy to dab your pointer finger into your product and rub it in. However, with the skin around your eye being as thin as onion skin, it’s crucial that you use your weakest finger to lightly dab and blend in the cream. This will be much less likely to cause premature aging from tugging and pulling.
Should you skip moisturizers if you have oily or acne prone skin?
No.
Dry, flaky skin and clogged pores are a huge irritant to acne and a cause of oil overproduction. If your skin is exceptionally oily, use a light or oil control lotion if you’d like. Just please don’t skip moisturizer!
Should you wash your face every night, even if you didn’t wear much makeup that day?
Absolutely!
It is 100% necessary to wash your face clean of makeup, even on light wear days. Sleeping in makeup not only clogs your delicate pores, but it causes premature aging. It also makes your pillow case chock full of bacteria!
Carefully and thoroughly wash your face every night!
We recommend gentle exfoliation using ARTISTRY YOUTH XTEND Advanced Creamy Foam Cleanser twice a day for a clean and radiant complexion. Its patented oat extract leaves skin feeling smooth, hydrated, and comfortable.
Hi Annaliese, today is May 9,2015, I just happened upon you blog regarding skincare regimens. Today a friend and I had a heated discussion regarding the proper application step of toner in a skincare regimen.
I referred to the artistry catalog section in which it says to cleanse, tone, treat and moisturize. I assumed if this is what the catalog recommends, I should do my pore cleaning masque after I cleanse and tone. After all the masques are all listed in the treatment section. My friend insisted I was wrong because she said that the function of the toner is to close the pores. She therefore advises her customers to do the opposite of what I thought is suppose to be done: cleanse, treat (what she says is repair,) tone and moisturize. Could you help clarify this issue. I appreciate your response.
Aloha!
Hello Natasha,
Thank you for reaching out to us. Regarding your question the best order of use for your skin care regimen is cleanse, tone, treat, moisturize. Referring back to your example, the Artistry® Essentials pore cleansing masque would come after you cleanse and tone. Here is a chart that lays out our Artistry Skincare 4-step Regimen (http://oak.ctx.ly/r/2yxsg). There is also a wonderful video done by our ARTISTRY Master Skin Health Educator Michelle D’Allaird (http://oak.ctx.ly/r/2yxtg). If you have any further questions please feel free to contact Customer Service at 800-253-6500.
All the best!
