Facing a 4th Quarter deficit on the road, No. 7 Houston had their season and national championship hopes hanging in the balance. However, the Cougars responded in emphatic fashion, scoring four late touchdowns to take down Cincinnati 40-16. The win keeps Houston at 7th in the Amway Coaches Poll.
Next, Stanford used 260 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns from Heisman Trophy candidate Christian McCaffrey to defeat Southern California 27-10 Saturday night in Palo Alto. The victory holds the Cardinal steady in the Amway Coaches Poll at No. 6. Stanford has now beaten USC seven of the past nine contests.
